To go up the second floor from outside was a little scary, especially for the little older people. Walkway was very uneven.
There were a lot of cobwebs inside and just on the outside of the house.
There was a car jack holding up 1 part of the porch.
The porch holding the jacuzzi was bowing.
When the water or bathrooms were used there was an awful smell outside from the septic.
The downstairs bathtub drained very slowly. The water would be up midshin as you you were taking a shower.
We had a group of 8 and we all loved the cabin. It can be a little difficult to find because it is tucked away in the hills, but that is the charm of the place. We even saw a few deer outside the cabin our first night.
The kitchen was large enough for a few of us to be in it at the same time while preparing meals. There is a pool table and fooseball table in the basement which we enjoyed. The furniture is comfortable. Some of the beds are better than others. I do appreciate that there is a choice as some people like springs and others like memory foam. Both bed options are available.
One of the perks is there is both an inside and outside exit to all of the floors so if circular stairs aren't your thing, you can use the outside exits.
Nancy is available to answer questions and give information. That is really a bonus because not all places have that kind of attentive host. We loved staying here and will do it again.
Hi Felicia, we are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Crows Nest cabin! We apologize that it was a little difficult to find due to it being tucked away, but I'm glad that our step by step directions helped you to find your way there, and yes, that is definitely part of its charm! We thank you for the feedback and hope to see you again soon!
The cabin is beautiful and spacious. The kitchen was well-equipped. The only downfall was the spiral staircase (tight for us heavier kids), but there are outside stairs as well
Thanks so much for the feedback. We hope to have you visit us again!
We loved our stay at The Crow's Nest. Excellent location close to rock climbing at Muir Valley and PMRP, close to Miguel's and Rock House for dinner, and close to the hiking at Natural Bridge. We all had our own rooms, which was wonderful. The hot tub was great to relax in after a long day of climbing. It was so peaceful waking up to the birds every morning. Nancy was very flexible about letting us return our key to the office late as the office was the opposite direction of where we were climbing on our last day. Can't wait to come back!
We're glad you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you again.
This large cabin has a beautiful setting at the end of a very long road into a sizable development of cabins. It had a nice, clean hot tub large enough to accommodate 4-5 people. It had a nice fire circle and the beds were comfy. Good place to stay if you have a large group of people and you aren't finicky about cleanliness. However, if you have higher standards, it might be disappointing as it is a little dirty around the edges and shabby overall. We were drawn to this property because they allowed pets, that is a kindness that is appreciated and the doggoes had a great time. As stated in the description, there are narrow spiral staircases to get from one floor to the next (there were three levels) but you can use the exterior staircases if this is a problem. However, if there is bad weather eliminating this option and you have older folks, large size people, or small children, these stairs are a very real challenge. It took 30 minutes plus to get to the trails of The Gorge.
Thank you for your feedback. The issues you mentioned will be looked into and addressed.
Had minor issues with the wifi that was resolved within a few hours. Other than that it was very accomodating and cozy.
The cabin is very nice, very comfortable, better than what you see in the photos, my family and I spent a very nice weekend.
Nice cabin. Location is beautiful. Plenty of dishes and kitchen tools available.
Beautiful place with beautiful scenery and very quick responses for all questions we had.
Amazing cabin to host a Friendsgiving. We had 8 adults, 4 children, and 2 dogs. We were comfortable (minus one of the beds....) and had a really great time. The surroundings are amazing and the hot tub was fantastic!
A bit tricky to find in the dark, but we did it. Directions to the place could be improved, but our whole crew really loved it overall.
This was our second stay at this cabin. The cabin is great. The driveway has been paved which makes the trip up much easier.
It was clean. There were plenty of kitchen supplies/tools.
However there were no towels or wash cloths in either of the bathrooms. I asked for extra towels at check-in and was assured there would be some in the cabin. When my sister went back to ask for them again, the lady working was rude. She gave her 7 towels for 9 people and no wash cloths.
Overall we had a decent stay at Crows Nest, the beds were all relatively comfortable and the driveway has been recently paved so there were no issues accessing the cabin and there was ample parking for the 5 vehicles that our group had! The check-in process was easy, and although there is a bit of a maze to get to the cabin, between our GPS and the directions provided at check-in we found it fairly easily! The jacuzzi was pristine and a great perk especially after long days of hiking. We had 10 people but were only provided 6 towels (1 per bedroom) so you may want to bring extras. The kitchen was stocked fairly well but there are a few things like coffee mugs where there weren’t nearly enough for our group. There was mouse droppings in one of the dressers but we didn’t actually see any during our stay but something to consider for those with allergies or phobias. As mentioned in other reviews the third floor is quite warm and the ceiling fans don’t help much so be prepared. There was a moisture issue with evidence of mold in the basement bathroom which we did report to the owner so hopefully that will be corrected in a timely manner but worth mentioning for those with serious mold or mildew allergies.
Good cabin that had pros and cons.
Pros:
-newly paved driveway
-tucked back in the woods
-hot tub
-plenty of space to already out over three floors
Cons:
-foosball table is pretty much broke
-there is a pool table but not even enough room to hold the pool stick correctly without hitting the wall
-cobwebs in all the doors and windows (would be an easy clean)
- the deck above the hot tub isn’t a solid covering so if it rains you can’t enjoy the hot tub.
-THE SPIRAL STAIR ARE NARROW
Overall is a decent cabin for the price. Would stay again.
We rented the cabin for a wedding venue located near by. We picked up towels for everyone upon check in when we picked up the key at the rental office. (The rental office is located about 20 minutes away from the cabin itself.) We were given printed directions and had the address in our Google Maps, but we still had issues finding the cabin. Other guests trying to find their cabins were experiencing the same problems locating their cabins, so we saw people walking and turning around their cars multiple times. If you need to get somewhere, or return at a certain time, leave room in your schedule for getting lost. lol
The driveway was recently paved, and we had no issues getting up and down the driveway in our Prius. We didn't have any issues with the kitchen, bathroom, or bedrooms and everything worked appropriately.
The kids enjoyed using the pool table, Foosball table, and swimming in the pond. The pond is located at the end of the driveway, and is not marked as private, and was shared with other people one night of our stay.
We used the hot tub, the bbq grill, corn hole boards, and the outdoor fireplace at night. These ammeneties were wonderful and the hot tub was much appreciated after hiking up the Natural Bridge!
Driveway needs to be leveled as some pretty big ruts make travel challenging. Nice cabin but could use a bit of updating. Overall it was clean, comfortable with good beds.
This place is a perfect getaway. There are a couple of cabins close by but perfect for a family or a few families! It is a little treacherous getting up to it but still not a real problem. I will definitely consider this cabin again in the near future!
Secluded, beautiful location. We enjoyed the three separate floors and hot tub. We couldn’t get up the driveway (as warned) so we parked with friends renting Ron’s Big House. New mattresses would help.
Everything was as described. We had a great time at The Crow's Nest!
Let’s start with the driveway, it is a little rough, we parked our cars at the bottom and only 4x4’s could make it up. It was January and had just snowed. The main roads were good but once we passed the zip line office there was patchy ice.
The bedrooms were as expected. The pool table was small but my kids had a blast. The kitchen had pretty much everything we needed to cook with. Our stay was during some of the coldest days we had experienced this winter. The first floor was very chilly, my husband and I prefer it cold so we were fine. The family room on the second floor was warm and toasty. Seems like there was a cold room and hot room on every floor. The hot tub worked great and there were no issues. The water pressure was great throughout the cabin and the temperature was very hot.
Our reservation was originally for December, a few days before check in we had to change it. The owner was very helpful and responsive when I messaged her and we easily changed our reservation to another weekend in January. On the day of the reservation the weather was bad and the rental company called me to let me know of road conditions. After check in there was confusion on how to get to the cabin and the owner gave alternate directions. Over all everyone we were in contact with was very helpful and pleasant.
The view was amazing and we even got to see 3 deer feeding around the pond one morning. Our stay was great and my family was already talking about future reservations before it was even time to leave.
Pros:
Cabin is wonderfully spaced.
The game room is a great edition for kids.
Hot tub was relaxing- but it’s open on all 4 sides so definitely chilly.
The views are AMAZING! You won’t be disappointed.
All the kitchen appliances worked.
Water gets HOT!
Communication with staff was great. No issues checking in or out.
Cons:
Cleaning company could improve
All 6 mattresses need replaced. Very worn in level of comfort.
Spiral stair case between levels is a very tight squeeze and not for elderly or children 4 and under.
Gravel Driveway is in rough condition- thankfully we had no snow or ice.
Great hot tub! Three floors make it nice for different gathering areas. Nice balconies. Spiral staircase is a fun, unique amenity.
Nice cozy place! Close to the gorge for day hiking. Lots of room for parking.
