The lake did not look the way it appeared in the pictures. It was more of a pond when we arrived. The driveway had huge ruts all in it. There were spider webs all over the deck and outdoor furniture. The host, Nancy, had in the instructions that they had one locked closet. When we arrived the whole basement was locked up, the kitchen had locks on certain cabinets and so did a few other things around the house. There wasn't bright toilet paper for 8 adults and 3 nights. The fans in the house were covered in dust.
Nancy, was very polite and respectful. She helped out a lot with the directions and checking into the cabin. Highly recommend her. Top notch hospitality.
Great place. Nice quite pond to look out on with some kayaks to use. Kitchen was well stocked and the house was perfect for what we needed.
This place was great. Definitely kinda in the middle of nowhere so be ready for little cell phone reception, which might be what your looking for. It does have WIFI so we were able to communicate with that. You will have to follow paper instructions once checked in with the office since your GPS won’t work.. but they are pretty clear and we didn’t have much of an issue finding it. One of our groups came in when it was dark and they had a much harder time… so I would recommend coming in when it’s light out. The driveway is quite steep and one side is rutted out so that wasn’t ideal, but not a big deal. Some more gravel would be nice to fix that other side. I think it was described as on a Lake, definitely more of a pond, but was still nice. Nancy was a great host responsive and helpful. The cabin itself was very nice and allowed us to do all that we wanted to. It was a great place to spend the weekend hanging out in the woods. The brewery (Hops) down the road was also very cool.
Wonderful stay! My family and I have vacationed at this cabin for the last few years. We enjoy the surroundings and the beautiful home!
It was really beautiful and peaceful.
We very much enjoyed our stay! For 3 couples, this place was very spacious and comfortable. According to the other couples who stay around Red River Gorge often this was one of the most stocked and nicest homes they have stayed in in the area.
Agree with all the comments about the driveway, it is steep! Also the dishwasher could use a deep clean. Overall though, great experience. We are planning to come back in the summer to enjoy the lake 🙂
We absolutely LOVED this cabin! The location on the small lake was perfect for our young fishermen, and to jog around in the morning. The hot tub was a must after days of climbing. Our family of 5 had more than enough space. I’m quite picky when it comes to kitchens, and this one had everything we needed to cook big healthy meals. For climbers, this cabin is located close to several awesome crags!
Me and my family had a great time we even added a nite to our stay we will be back
We had a group of 4 adults and 4 children (all 2 and under.) There was lots of space for all of us to spread out and have some privacy while also accommodating our larger group. The kitchen island is massive, lots of space to eat and serve.
Well stocked kitchen has everything you need to cook full meals.
While it's not a secluded area, the cabin is tucked up in the trees so it does feel private. We were happy to see the security gate at entrance with code. A great area for large groups and family. Would love to come back when it's warmer to take advantage of the lake!
Very well equipped kitchen. The driveway was pretty rough even with AWD.
What a beautiful cabin in a beautiful location! We had a lovely stay here and our only wish was that we could have stayed longer!
This property is lovely. My family of seven had an adventurous weekend at the Red River Gorge area. The property is spacious, clean and in a perfect location.
We had a lovely and comfortable stay. The house is very clean and well-appointed. Two things for others to note: the road in the neighborhood is gravel, so know your vehicle and how it works on gravel (not all SUVs are the same). Once vehicle in our group was a four-door Ford sedan, and she said she had a little difficulty but was altogether fine. Secondly, read the directions they give you at check-in! If you're arriving in separate vehicles, better to meet all at the office and head up together. We all experienced spotty cell coverage and it was difficult to get the directions to everybody else due to this. The one of us with the directions had no trouble!
The beds are very comfortable (we all want to know what those super soft sheets are!). The house is very clean and well-appointed in terms of the kitchen, furniture, etc. It is a very easy house to spend time with loved ones in. Forestdale is in a gated neighborhood of similar cabins, which made the experience even better. 10/10 recommend.
My family and I had a great time at this peaceful cabin by the lake! We appreciated the comfortable couches and mattresses as well as the high speed WiFi. There were quite a few bugs surrounding the cabin - but that’s a small price to pay when staying at such a scenic spot.
Great stay. Private, but close to everything. We spent all day fishing and swimming on the lake then cooked a dinner. Lots of pots and pans etc. and a huge island. Very comfortable beds.
Great home
Everything was pretty great. If your car is a little lower than normal the road is pretty thrashed. One driveway is way too steep with loose gravel. There is another driveway that is better but still hard with a regular car because the road is not maintained too well. Just so you know you cannot use the gas fire pit, it's only for owner use. It doesn't really say that in the listing but shows the pit in the pictures. Everything else was great though. The cabin is in pristine condition, hot tub is great.
Great Cabin to stay while checking out what Red River Gorge has to offer! Make sure to bring your floats as the private dock on the lake is great along with the hot tub! Check In process was super easy!
Fun weekend with family! Comfy cabin with a beautiful view. We were very glad to have an AWD vehicle for the gravel road up to the cabin. Definitely check out the underground cave kayak adventure nearby!
I gave this cabin 5 stars due to the beauty and cleanliness of the cabin, the comfortable layout of the space (which was great for our family!), the access to the lake, the gorgeous nature landscape, the hot tub and porch. It was lovely! The only feedback we have is around basic amenities: the cabin asks you to bring extra toilet paper, trash bags, your own towels, coffee filters for the coffee maker they have, etc. - they didn't have enough basic amenities like dish soap, TP, trash bags etc. for an 8 person cabin which is something that could be easily improved and would make the stay more enjoyable. Despite this, we would still recommend this cabin to anyone and would stay here again!
Great!
