Incredible view! Amazing area. There is a small path down to a bench swing that over looks the valley and extends through some wild blueberries to the edge of the cliff and a luxurious view. A great cabin in the woods or by a river is nice but this one has a view that is hard to beat!

Canon has a gorgeous view in a beautiful neighborhood. We got amazing photos of the stars!
Rooms were very clean and comfortable. I would recommend that guests bring beach towels if hot tub use is intended.
Kitchen had everything we needed.
Overall, an excellent stay that made us wish we had been able to stay longer!

We lived are stay in this cabin. The out door space was fantastic even in February. We really enjoyed the wood burning fireplace too.

Hickory Ridge was great. It had a phenomenal view. Driving up you see all the brand new cabins with no view then you come to Hickory Ridge and it has the most breathtaking look out over the gorge. We loved it. Overall the cabin was great, need a little updating, there was a lot of repairs that looked like needed to be done but it didn’t affect our stay at all. The hot tub was great. My son loved the whirlpool bathtub. There was a slight problem with ants, they were all over the kitchen table and then eventually made it to our bed. Ants are to be expected but there were A LOT! Was told maintenance was coming with traps but I don’t think they ever came. Once again it didn’t affect our good time. The beds were extra comfy and we slept great. We were there during a hot week and the AC worked wonderfully. The charcoal grill was fun to cook on and we had a couple great bonfires. (Wood is available all over the gorge for sale)

The cottage was cute and had a great location with a great view. However it was dated and my husband had 25 spider bites. Pretty sure there was a spider in our bed or sheets/comforter. The hot tub had too much chlorine so we only used sparingly but we did use it. My daughter took a bath in the master bath with the jacuzzi tub and when we drained it black mold covered the tub. Which means it sprayed out of the jets. Other than that we loved that it was close to all the things to do in Red River Gorge. Not sure it was worth the price though.

Great cabin with a view in a location central to most activities and restaurants in the RRG area. Love the deck and first floor master with the other bedrooms on the second floor. We used the hot tub every night. I’m picky about having sufficient space from other cabins and felt this old cabin was a private being tucked in the woods. The other cabins that are being built in this area not so much. In fact, they have no privacy, no views, and no trees. I give this cabin a 9/10 with the only point deduction coming from the road noise from down in the valley, mornings typically. But don’t let that stop you from considering this cabin, it has far too many good aspects to more than make up for it.

The cabin was very clean, views were incredible, well furnished and plenty of space to spread out. We would definitely recommend anyone to stay here.

Great place to get away from the congestion of the area. The place was clean, but the house was far from new. Could use some maintenance. We were happy with the place and will probably stay there again sometime.

We really enjoyed our stay. This was a climbing trip and access to Muir Valley, Natural Bridge, and other crags is excellent. The views are amazing. I definitely recommend but note that there is NO wifi if you plan on doing any remote work.

Great cabin. Great location, lots of things to do in close proximity, however still with Privacy. Beds were comfortable. Hot tub was great. We will definitely stay here again.

Everything you look for in a cabin at RRG! The cabin was extremely clean and was a great location to all of the trails around Slade. What better way to end your day then watching the sun go down with a spectacular view while sitting in the hot tub. Already looking forward to next year!

This is a great rental house with an unbeatable view! The house is clean and comfortable and though it is expected in the woods, there were no insects or mice as others have found. Gravel road is easy and in good shape. Would not hesitate staying here again.

Five stars all around! Thanks to Nancy and her staff because this stay couldn’t have been better. The cabin was clean, quaint, well decorated, accommodating, with an awesome view! I have read other reviews that mentioned issues with mice. We didn’t have any issues with mice on our trip. The cabin was very clean and put together. I really appreciate them keeping the trees cut down in the backyard to keep the view visible! Our guests said verbatim that the view was as good as our hike (Hansons point - best view in the gorge). Make sure you bring the small items that Nancy mentions or you will have to make a store trip. The cabin was very well decorated. I strongly disagree with the other reviews that said it wasnt. I traveled with two women, one is an interior designer and they absolutely loved the cabin interior. It’s exactly what you want on a weekend hiking trip. All of the appliances worked great as well. Having a fully stocked kitchen and coffee setup was awesome. Theres nothing else you need from a hiking trip cabin getaway!

The cabin was lovely and just as pictured. No major complaints except that the mice are very much still present (even in the summer months), as evidenced by the half-eaten (unopened) chocolate bar and the mouse droppings I found on my pillow one morning. Also the road leading up to the cabin--we knew going in that it would be gravel but we were told that it was flat and even. It was not. It was hilly and curvy and of course the gravel was deepest and loosest in the inclined curves. None of us were comfortable attempting it on our motorcycles so we had to trailer the bikes in and out every morning and evening, which took a considerable chunk of time out of our days. I would NOT recommend staying here if you've got motorcycles, unless you're very confident on gravel. Other than those two issues, we enjoyed our stay. The upstairs floor was very creaky but the cabin was stocked with more essentials (towels, hand soaps, coffee filters, etc) then we were expecting. And it's almost at the end of the lane so very few cars passing by (on the noisy gravel road), though there's a lot of construction in the development so be prepared for those noises at 8 AM. The location in relation to all the attractions of RRG can't be beat though, and the view off the back porch was gorgeous.

this place is amazing! definitely worth the stay and the view is absolutely unbeatable. also, this was my first airbnb stay and if all places are like this i am definitely going to continue using this app. OH and also we had 3 pretty decent size dogs and there was no issue. they had an amazing time also. very close to trails, restaurants, and activities. just an overall great place to stay!

Check in is at another building and our gps has us at the wrong place. As an Airbnb it would be much more convenient to just have a door code and no extra stop for checkin. That being said we loved our stay. The cabin was in a great location close to everything we wanted to do. Literally down the road from SUP Kentucky and Mill Creek Lake. We did see one mouse during our stay which happens when you are in the woods.

This is our second time staying at Hickory Ridge. Our family of 5 loves it! It is definitely a cabin in the woods with its own idiosyncrasies, and you can't expect it to be critter free, but we love it. Since our last visit 6 months ago, they replaced the rusted out grill and removed the large and very loud family of mice in the walls. Nothing kept us up at night this time around. If you keep in mind that you are camping you won't be disappointed- and the view of the gorge can't be beat.

Make sure to follow paper directions…gps signal gets spotty with the wifi

Hickory Ridge is a very nice, well kept and comfortable cabin that allowed my extended family and I to create some truly great memories. There were 6 of us staying there (3 couples) and we all had plenty of room. The TV was the perfect size for watching Kentucky basketball and the hot tub was very well maintained and felt nice and relaxing. I cannot wait to book this cabin come Fall. It sits high up on a ridge and I can only imagine how beautiful the view would be in Fall with the trees full of brilliant leaves or even in the Summer! Despite it being the midst of winter with no leaves on the branches, it was still breathtaking. We certainly cannot wait to come back when we can all get together again. The kitchen was well stocked, however the only little thing I wondered about was where were the cereal bowls? There wasn't a single one, so we laughed as my husband ate his cereal out of a mixing bowl! No other complaints at all. Thank you Nancy for such a memorable weekend!

We did hear a critter in the walls, but saw no evidence of the critter out in the living spaces. I'm sure they will address this promptly.

Only other thing I would note is that if you like hot baths, there did not seem to be enough hot water to fill the jacuzzi tub. Maybe the reservoir had just not filled up enough from the last time we used hot water? Though I tend to think that there just wasn't enough.

But we really did have a fantastic stay and would recommend Hickory Ridge for anyone looking for a private getaway in RRG!

There was noise of mice or something in the wall scratching at night, but it does seem like they’re actively trying to get rid of them and it’s not a dirty issue the mice have just sought shelter there. I never saw one come out the full two days, but they are very noisey. Other then that I had an amazing relaxing time still, amazing view clean house nice fireplace etc.

In spite of how this review may sound, we honestly loved it and are planning to return this summer. I just want to be thorough. Everything I am saying in the review I also shared with the host and property management company, so these things may not be issues next time.

Pros:
- Gorgeous view. Can't beat it.
- Great layout.
- Nice hot tub.
- Useable fire pit.
- Good location.
- There's a cool bottle opener on the wall.

Cons:

- Something is living in the wall of the Master and Upstairs bedroom. The squeaking and scampering was so loud it woke us up at night.
- The chain on the downstairs toilet broke while we were there.
- The grill is rusted out.
- I couldn't get the dryer to work which totally could have been a me issue.
- It wasn't very clean. There were mouse droppings, and the kitchen towel and sponge were definitely not clean.

- Towels (just restating in case you missed it in the house info)
- Paper towels
- Kleenex
- Firewood
- Camping chairs for the fire pit
- Tools to cook in/on/ over the fire pit
- Charcoal if you want to grill
-Measuring spoons (if needed)
- A few writing utensils
- The ability to entertain yourself. We had tons of board games and DVDs which was our plan - but was especially good when heavy rain caused the satellite signal to go out.

Honestly we loved the place. We really did. It was an almost perfect weekend getaway for our family of 5.

We loved staying at Nancy’s cabin. We spent our mornings drinking coffee on the back deck and enjoying the gorgeous view, and our evenings by the campfire gazing up at the dazzling stars. The cabin was clean and was perfect for a weekend getaway with some friends. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Great location - close to Natural Bridge and Miguel’s. Beautiful view from back porch. It was comfortable for a family of 4 adults and 2 little kids. Easy check in and check out.

What an amazing cabin. We loved our stay here. The view is what made it spectacular, next to the homey interior. It’s also so close to all of the attractions (The Gorge Underground, The natural bridge trail & ski lift). There was a fully stocked kitchen, however we opted for Miguels pizza for dinner both nights. The hot tub was a must after a day full of hiking. The cabin was clean & we will DEFINITELY return.

Our family enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing weekend. Great location, breathtaking view, spacious and well appointed cabin. We are already planning a return visit.

Overall the cabin was great for our trip. The view and back porch were the best part! The cabin does need a deep clean as there were mouse turds throughout and dog hair all over the rugs. The AC is not allowed to be set below 74 and the upstairs got very hot. On the “House Rules” regarding the AC it said “Sometimes it is just hot.”

Very nice cabin! Everything was in order and very clean. We did not have any issues with the cabin whatsoever. The view in the back was incredible and perfect for a bonfire as the sun sets. Huge thanks to Nancy, and we will be hard pressed to find a better cabin at the gorge!

This cabin was perfect for our families vacation to RRG. The location was ideal for us- off the beaten path but close enough to everything. The view from the back porch is amazing and we ate most of our meals there. The hot tub was so relaxing after a day of hiking. We were impressed with the excellent communication from the host. Check in and put was very convenient. We would definitely return!

Absolutely breathtaking view! Fire pit, hot tub, comfortable beds - had everything we needed. As others have mentioned, bringing some extra cooking supplies would be beneficial if using the kitchen. Thank you!

What a view! Spent most of my time enjoying coffee or a meal on the back deck overlooking the valley. The cabin is fairly basic with no wi-fi and old school satellite TV, so if you have kids and its raining bring some DVDs or board games...All in all, the space worked perfectly for what we wanted - A place to unwind and get away for the weekend!

Great place to stay

We had a great stay at Hickory Ridge, the area is beautiful and remote but has a lot of things to do. The house was a perfect space for our small family to vacation for the week!

Fantastic overall experience at the cabin. 11/10 would recommend. Close driving distance to many trails and the hot tub at the end of the night helped with sore muscles form our hikes. The view at the cabin was worth every penny and cannot wait till we get to come back.

Beautiful view! Unfortunately there's a road that runs through it. Neighbor cabins are close but enough privacy where on the back patio you cannot see each other! Need to bring pot holders or use towels. Don't bother with the dishwasher and if you use the dryer and have Littles like we do don't run it in the night for it buzzes every ten mins or so
