This stay fell way short of our first experience with the business. We weren’t expecting a brand new cabin or the Ritz Carlton. The check in was easy and pleasant and the location is great but the cabin is another story. It’s old, items dated, and in some sections looks pieced milled together.
The beds are terrible and uncomfortable. As someone who owns rentals I would be embarrassed to have these beds in my properties. Some of the sheets and towels have stains and are discolored. Upstairs bedroom was missing curtains. The basement was musty and cold. Most of our plates and cups where dirty and we had to wash again. The refrigerator while having a water and ice dispenser did not work and the compressor made a loud noise every 10-15 minutes.
Outside was nice. My only complaint is that they have a 4/5ft piece of rebar sticking out of the ground by fire pit, not safe at all.
I would give them another try but not this cabin. It’s over priced and for the amenities/ quality is poor.
The cabin was sufficient. Outdated amenities. Nothing fancy about this place. It's a bit off the beaten path, which meant a lot of driving to get to our hikes. I got speedy responses when I communicated with the owners.
Beautiful cabin on a peaceful pond. Close to local attractions but far enough away that it feels private. Great space to spread everyone out. Loved our stay!
House was just what we needed! And was exactly how it was described. Would for sure stay here again!
Awesome place to stay and a lot of space on the inside!
This location, atmosphere, scenery and so much more is everything my family needed on this vacation! We had a very hard time wanting to leave and plan to be back in the area again for summer!!
I wasn't completely impressed, nor was I completely disappointed. The good; It is secluded. It has a nice back porch and a private pond, with a good view. The hot tub was small, but worked just fine and was enjoyable at the end of a long day of hiking. My kids loved the 5 bed bedroom upstairs. If you are traveling with little ones, that is nice. The fire pit and benches are great. The grill, while not top of the line, worked just fine, and there is a park style charcoal grill, if you prefer that.
On the other hand, to call it rustic would be a huge compliment. It is very rough and dated inside. I wouldn't judge it too harshly based on that alone. It is a "cabin" and we certainly were not expecting the Ritz. I could absolutely look past the fact that it appears it was built by a junior high shop class using reclaimed lumber, if they would just update some of the functionality issues. The issues that bothered me; 1) No deadbolts on any of the doors. Impossible to really secure the place. 2) No recycling option - I'm not sure if that is standard in the gorge, but when you are on a vacation to enjoy nature, it seems ashamed to be tossing recyclables in the trash. 3) The kitchenware, while plentiful, is in terrible condition and way past needing replaced. 4) Lastly, the beds. Wow, they are bad. My wife and I had to move bedrooms to a room with a smaller bed, because the one upstairs was so incredibly uncomfortable. You can feel every spring in your back. This mattress has to be older than the Gorge itself. The one we moved to wasn't good, but it was better than the queen upstairs. If you go to the full size bed downstairs it is so tight to both walls that you have to get out of bed at the foot of the bed, and there is no room for a reading lamp (or anything else for that matter). All of the mattresses in that place need updated. Overall, it isn't a bad place, and if they would spend a week's worth of rent for the place to make some updates it could be a real gem, especially if you don't mind a little rough around the edges.
greatlocation and very roomy enough sleeping spa e for 17 people. the lake has tons of blue gill and a very tranquil spot. check in is at the Daniel boone coffee shop plaza and follow directions to village drive to get to the cabin is the easiest way to locate the cabin. plenty of parking and deck seating. love thiscabin.
Comfortable cabin with a great host. Would absolutely stay here again.
We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end with renting this cabin
Great location and support. The stay itself was excellent, and the staff were especially helpful after the stay. My car wasn't starting and the staff were very helpful when they had no obligation to be.
Great cabin in a good location. Some broken furniture but nothing big. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars was poor communication.
Absolutely love love love this spot!!! Would definitely book again. Beautiful hiking spots, amazing kayaking adventure nearby. The cabin itself was so relaxing and the perfect getaway from the city
We had a great stay
The Cabin was great and the company was very responsive to any questions/concerns we had while staying at the cabin. The place was clean and exactly as advertised. I would recommend this place to other people visiting The Red River Gorge area.
This was a great spot! Close to everything. Perfect set up for our getaway! Simple to find. Everyone had a great time! Met and exceeded our expectations. Would definately stay here again.
Cabin located close to trails and zipline.
The cabin was great, plenty of room and the close vicinity to hiking, rock climbing and other outdoor activities was exactly what we were looking for. The house is isolated far enough away from the other homes in the neighborhood that we felt a lot of privacy. We rented the house with a group of old friends to celebrate a friends 40th birthday. We were a group of 7 guys, and we had all of the space and resources to cook great meals and enjoy time together in this beautiful cabin.
Good place for big groups - lots of space (bring a few camping chairs if you all want to sit at the table). Sleeping arrangements were great. Be sure you go with people you are comfortable with since there isn’t much insulation in the home and you can hear just about everything.
The lake in the backyard was perfect for fishing and there was plenty of parking. Hot tub was awesome and we enjoyed s’mores by the fire pit.
A great find for a bunch of friends wanting to enjoy a weekend with each other.
Lovely cabin in a beautiful spot!
The cabin was great! Highly recommend!
Would not rent this cabin again. it had mouse droppings in it upon arrival right after being cleaned. The mat in the upstairs bathroom smelled like mold. We washed it out and there was black water that came from the mat. Some of the lights weren't working. The fan in the living room didn't work as well. Nice location, just needs a major update.
Great cabin for weekend getaway
